FAQ

What is Positive Youth?

Positive Youth is a part of New Life Derby, we aim to come alongside young people to help them develop as a person. To give them a safe place to come to and socialise; building friendships, to develop their life skills so that they can have extraordinary lives.

Are the Events and Programs supervised?

Yes we have an extensive number of people available to help for various events. Our regular Friday night events have a team of 8-10 leaders around. For larger events we will draw from our wider team so that we have leaders around for security and safety. We also have help from leaders from other youth groups at events such as Fuel. For more information about our team see our Team page.

How much does it Cost?

Our regular Friday night programmes are entirely free. If there are any special events we are holding, if we are raising money for something, or going on a trip, there may be a small cost (£1-£5), but we will advertise this in advance to let the youth know of any potential costs. On a regular Friday night we also have a tuck shop which has drink and snack items ranging from 5p-60p.

Will my child need transportation?

For most special events, especially if we are hosting them, no. For example events like !Audacious Conference we host our youth at the conference, and we will provide transport to Manchester as well as to and from the conference centre. However, events such as Fuel, your child will need to find their own way to and from the event. We do not provide lifts to any of our regular Friday night events, however we do provide lifts home from our regular Friday night events, permitting we have the ability to do so (i.e. enough space in the cars we have available). For this very reason we cannot promise a lift home to all our youth members.

Does my child need a consent form?

For a regular Friday night? No. However, if we are planning to go to an event or on any trips, we will need a consent form signed by you as a parent or guardian. We will give notice if this is needed. Your child will be held responsible for getting the form to you to be signed and then returned to us before the event/trip.
